Year 2
Semester 1: Ithaca Aquatic Center
Lifted Topography
Students were first assigned a site beside one of the many gorges found in Ithaca, NY to be the location of their Aquatic centers. Through site-analysis, students formed their concepts and began to design. The project was to be a public aquatic center that could be used for both recreation and competition, forming a space that could be open to and used by the surrounding community.

Semester 2: Glenn H. Curtiss Satellite Museum
The Hanger
At the start of the semester, the class took a field trip to Hammondsport, NY to visit the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum. Students explored the exhibits, photographed different planes and motorcycles, and learned about the life of Glenn Curtiss, a pioneer in American aviation. Once back in Ithaca, the class conducted more in-depth research on his life and work and presented their findings to the class. The proposed project was then assigned: a satellite museum to the existing one in Hammondsport that would house pieces which do not fit in the original museum, with a stronger focus on his ties with the history of aviation. Students were allowed to choose from a few select sites along the Cayuga inlet in Ithaca, NY to serve as the location of their project.
